BIOGRAPHY

William Lee Currie was born April 1st, 1950, in Huddersfield, United Kingdom, and currently lives in Woodside Park, North London with his wife Heidi and daughter Lucy. His father was a bricklayer for the Yorkshire Electricity board, and his mother an office worker. Beyond primary and secondary school, he studied at Huddersfield Music College, and the Royal Academy of Music in London.

His first bands were: Company Roadshow (when he was 19), Ritual Theatre (at 21), and Tiger Lily (when he was 22).

CAREER HIGHS AND LOWS

Billy considers the lowest point in his career to be: "supporting The Jam at Reading Festival 1978 to find that my piano was making dreadful sounds caused by the lights and power on stage, and having to do the gig like that. Suicide or what!!"

Numan fans will be happy to know, he considers the high point to be: "the second Hammersmith Odeon (as it was called then) gig with Gary Numan when it was being recorded - a good gig and a bit of a buzz!"
